A sportsmen’s group sued the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over a new rule banning puppies younger than six months from entering the country, saying in a federal lawsuit that the agency exceeded its authority when it put new restrictions on such imports.
The rule, designed to prevent an outbreak of dog rabies in the US, bars healthy dogs from entering the US unless they’re at least six months old and microchipped. The CDC says canine rabies was eradicated in the US in 2007.
