The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s age restriction for puppies entering the US from foreign countries is lawful and within the agency’s statutory authority, a federal court said Tuesday.
The CDC’s puppy import regulations don’t violate the Administrative Procedure Act, as applied to dogs traveling from the Caribbean Islands, Judge Lindsay S. Griffin said in an opinion for the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The CDC’s regulations are within its authority and aren’t arbitrary or capricious, as applied to that locale, Griffin said, granting the government’s motion for summary judgment.
