A federal case against New York State Judge Barry Porsch was voluntarily dismissed by the Cayuga Nation—a federally recognized tribe in upstate New York that accused the judge of violating tribal sovereignty when he prevented the eviction of two of its members.
Porsch earlier this week vacated a pair of temporary restraining orders he had issued in August stopping the nation from evicting Julius and Daren Kettle from their homes for alleged unpaid rent. That decision prompted the nation on Thursday to drop its lawsuit in the US District Court for the Western District of New York.
