A California school district and its employees are immune from a Catholic teacher’s First Amendment claims brought after she was fired for refusing to use a student’s preferred pronouns, a federal court said.
Mirella Ramirez also failed to state a plausible claim for relief against the Oakland Unified School District and its employees, said Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler Tuesday for the US District Court for the Northern District of California, dismissing claims against the school district with prejudice and the claims against individual defendants without prejudice.
