Medicaid and Medicare plan provider CareSource failed to protect the personal information of nearly 3.2 million people that was exposed in an August data breach involving Progress Software Corp.'s MOVEit file transfer app, a proposed federal class action said.
Todd Higham alleged on behalf of his minor child that CareSource inadequately maintained its network, platform, and software; failed to properly manage its third-party vendors; and failed to abide by industry data-security standards and those required by the Federal Trade Commission and under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
