A cannabis retailer lost its bid to challenge California’s unionization law for the industry after a court found the business violates federal marijuana restrictions.
Blocking the state law’s union-related requirement for cannabis businesses would call for the US District Court for the Southern District of California to defend a retailer that is acting contrary to federal law, Judge Todd W. Robinson said. The judge held that he is barred from doing that under what’s known as the “unclean hands” doctrine.
