California’s restrictions on the concealed carry of switchblade knives are constitutional, a panel of Ninth Circuit judges ruled Friday.
The state’s switchblade regulations have dozens of historical analogues, such as the country’s long history of regulating the carrying of Bowie knives, the court said.
The law therefore comports with the US Supreme Court’s 2022 New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n, Inc. v. Bruen decision, which requires courts to examine whether a law fits with the country’s historic tradition of arms regulation.
