California’s Energy Production Fight Will Backfire, Burgum Says

Victories in California’s legal fights against the Trump administration’s push to increase energy production will only lead to increased energy costs and an exodus of Golden State residents, US Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said Friday.

If California “keeps pursing a policy of being anti-energy, as opposed to affordable, reliable, secure energy addition,” then the state will continue to lose residents and will record “the lowest amount of capital coming in for the next generation’s economy,” Burgum said at a Sable Offshore Corp. facility in Goleta, Calif.
