California’s Chief Justice Calls Bar Exam Mess ‘Inexcusable’ (1)

The California Supreme Court will tighten its oversight of the State Bar as it investigates the February Bar Exam, Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero said in an address to lawmakers.

Guerrero proposed moving more of the responsibility for admitting lawyers to the Bar in California, including the process of administering the exam, back to a subgroup of the Bar called the Committee of Bar Examiners. It was the Bar’s Board of Trustees that largely greenlit and steered the new exam that glitched and crashed widely last month.
