California’s Biden-Era Emissions Standard Enforcement Draws Suit

Volvo Group North America LLC and a group of trucking manufacturers say California is attempting to enforce its strict emissions standards, even after the Trump administration overturned them in June.

The truck manufacturers, which include Daimler Truck North America LLC and International Motors LLC, said in a lawsuit filed Monday the state threatened “civil sanctions and un-favorable regulatory treatment” if they don’t comply with the state’s standards, which they say are now illegal.

“Plaintiffs are caught in the crossfire: California demands that OEMs follow preempted laws; the United States maintains such laws are illegal and orders OEMs to disregard them,” ...
