A California worker didn’t have to show substantial proof of alleged labor violations in order to file a claim on behalf of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency, a state appeals court said.
Miguel Angel Rojas-Cifuentes sued his former employer, American Module Systems Inc., in San Joaquin County. He sought to recover civil penalties under the state’s Private Attorneys General Act, which allows aggrieved employees to bring a civil action on behalf of the state for labor code violations.
