California Top Court Suspends San Diego Lawyer for Second Time

A California attorney who argued the state bar selectively enforces the rules against sole practitioners and small firms and lets the big ones slide by lost his state supreme court case.

Justices during their weekly meeting Wednesday ordered Benjamin Laurence Pavone suspended for 30 days and imposed a stayed suspension of a year for failing to represent a woman who was seeking to remain as trustee for her grandmother’s trust.

The California State Bar charged Pavone with moral turpitude, misrepresentation, charging unconscionable fees, and other claims for allegedly failing to competently represent the woman.
