California bar leaders are preparing to petition the California Supreme Court to adopt the National Conference of Bar Examiners’ NextGen Uniform Bar Exam for administration starting in July 2028.
The State Bar of California’s Committee of Bar Examiners is going to recommend the NCBE’s new NextGen exam to the state’s high court, which must make a determination on the test’s future by July, according to an April 17 news release from the state bar.
