Do California attorneys need to exude more civility toward one another? According to a panel of experienced arbitrators, and a recently imposed State Bar of California requirement for mandatory continuing legal education, the answer is yes.
The one-hour civility requirement was added into Bar licensees’ mandatory continuing legal education obligations in 2024. Certain licensees have until March 29 to complete the new training as part of their 25 hours of MCLE curriculum, which highlights, among other things, legal ethics, elimination of bias, and technology use.
