California Bar to Cut Exam Locations in Cost-Saving Bid (1)

The State Bar of California is preparing to cut the number of locations it administers the bar exam in July 2024 from seven to five or six, a spokesperson confirmed on Friday, as the bar grapples with how to close a budget shortfall.

Members of the Board of Trustees are set to vote at the end of next week on the cost-cutting measure, according to the agenda document. State Bar Admissions staff “do not relish” the proposed change and recognize that it would offload costs from the State Bar to applicants, staff said in August.
