California Bar Exam Violated Disability Rights, Applicants Say

The California Bar systematically failed to provide accommodations on the February Bar exam, violating the rights of test takers with disabilities, a coalition of disabled examinees said in a letter to the Bar.

Disruptions caused by the faulty online test platform took chunks out of many applicants’ approved extra time, the letter said. One examinee failed by eight points after a proctor required them to take the test in a standard amount of time, despite their accommodation of time-and-a-half, the coalition said, citing public comments in post-exam meetings.
