The State Bar of California convinced a federal judge not to disqualify a law firm from representing the bar in a proposed class action brought over a data leak that allowed confidential client complaint and attorney disciplinary information to be captured by a free court records website.
Plaintiffs using pseudonyms sued the California State Bar in March, alleging that hundreds of thousands of private documents were downloaded by JudyRecords.com between October 2021 and February 2022. They say the bar failed to adequately safeguard the data.
