California Assault Weapons Ban Unblocked by Ninth Circuit (1)

A divided federal appeals court panel issued an administrative stay of a ruling that struck down California’s assault weapons ban.

The Oct. 28 ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit freezes an Oct. 19 ruling by the US District Court for the Southern District of California, granting gun organizations a permanent injunction against enforcing regulatory provisions in the state’s Assault Weapons Control Act.

The state attorney general’s office filed a notice of appeal on the day of the trial court ruling.
