California Assault Weapons Ban Fight Paused for Wider Appeal

A challenge to California’s assault gun ban was put on pause late Friday while the full Ninth Circuit considers the legality of a state law prohibiting magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

That case is scheduled for a March hearing in San Francisco.

The three-judge panel, in a one-page order, said the case will be held in abeyance and submission withdrawn pending resolution of Virginia Duncan’s challenge to the large-capacity magazine limit in Duncan v. Bonta.
