California Ammunition Background Check Law Enjoined, Again (1)

A federal judge has, for the second time, blocked California voter-approved initiative requiring background checks for every ammunition purchase in a ruling bound to be appealed.

Judge Roger T. Benitez of the US District Court for the Southern District of California permanently enjoined Proposition 63’s mandate for ammunition purchasers to undergo and pay for a background before buying bullets. The injunction is effective immediately.

California took the judge’s prior decision to block the 2016 measure up to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit which ultimately remanded the matter after the US Supreme Court’ in New York State ...
