Proposed rules to guard against hiring and employment discrimination based on artificial intelligence opened for public comment on Friday, California’s Civil Rights Council announced.
The rules, which are newly open for public comment but were finalized and voted into the rulemaking process by the state’s Civil Rights Department in February 2023, more than a year ago, adapt existing discrimination laws to fit new technology. July 18 is the last day members of the public can submit written comments about the proposal.
