Caesars Avoids Trademark Suit Over E-sports Casino Game, for Now

Caesars Entertainment, Inc. was granted a motion to dismiss in a trademark infringement suit filed against it under California law that involved the development of an e-sports casino game for television.

An unfair competition claim against Caesars was also dismissed by Judge Kenly Kiya Kato of the US District Court for the Central District of California. But the dismissals were without prejudice, so Foundry IV Inc. can amend its complaint. Additionally named in the complaint, Hard Carry Gaming Inc., which does business as NRG Esports, had moved to strike the complaint, which Kato denied.
