C-SPAN Defeats Lawsuit Over Video-Data Sharing With Facebook

The Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network defeated a proposed class action alleging it shared the video-viewing histories of website visitors with Meta Platforms Inc. without consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Plaintiffs Matthew Horan and John Sullivan failed to show that they were “consumers” or that they had shared “personally identifiable information” as those terms are defined in the VPPA, Judge Beryl A. Howell of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said Monday.
