ByteDance Whistleblower Refuses to Testify in Sanctions Hearing

A ByteDance Inc. whistleblower declined to answer questions about whether he committed perjury or fabricated evidence at a Wednesday court hearing in San Francisco, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

Yintao “Roger” Yu, who was suing the TikTok Inc. owner for allegedly firing him because he spoke out about unlawful activity, pleaded the Fifth when asked direct questions about whether he had lied about key bankruptcy documents and whether he made up an anonymous source to bolster his lawsuit.
