ByteDance Seeks $6 Million Sanction of Whistleblower Lawyers (1)

ByteDance Ltd. has asked a San Francisco federal court to impose $6.2 million in sanctions against a pair to attorneys representing a whistleblower whose legal case against the Chinese tech conglomerate fell apart last year.

The attorneys failed to vet claims made by their client Yintao “Roger” Yu, a former US engineering executive who claimed ByteDance wrongfully fired him after he blew the whistle on widespread intellectual property theft and the Chinese Communist Party’s influence on the company’s TikTok app, its sanctions motion said.
