Bunk Bed Maker Hit With $787 Million Verdict in Child’s Death

A Vietnamese bunk bed manufacturer was ordered to pay $787 million, including $522 million in punitive damages, on behalf of a toddler who died after becoming trapped between the top step of the ladder and the bed.

A jury in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio on Tuesday awarded the damages against Moash Enterprise Co.

Last year, the child’s estate obtained a default judgment against Moash, which had failed to respond to service or appear in the case.
