Brooklyn Liquor Store Hit With Trademark Suit From Sake Website

A merchant of Japanese alcoholic beverages wants a federal court to declare that its trademark doesn’t infringe the logo and wordmark of a Brooklyn wine and spirits shop.

Tippsy Inc., located in California, says “no reasonable jury” would conclude its black, lower case cursive logo infringes Tipsy LLC’s pink, capital letter, block text logo and that many people in the alcoholic beverages market use the word “tipsy” in marketing. It also says in its complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California, that it filed the lawsuit after the Brooklyn store threatened it with litigation. ...
