Brigham Young Sued Over Facebook Pixel on Streaming-Video Site

Brigham Young University disclosed the video-watching histories of its website subscribers to Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Benjamin Garcia alleged that BYU installed the Meta pixel on the website of the university’s streaming video service, a snippet of code that allowed Meta’s Facebook unit to collect data arising from the interactions of visitors with the site.
