Bribery Convictions Vacated in Chicago for Four ComEd Insiders

Bribery convictions of four former Illinois utility insiders were thrown out Monday by a Chicago federal judge, though their convictions on other counts remain intact, court records show.

Judge Manish S. Shah of the US District Court of the Northern District of Illinois vacated convictions on four bribery counts, partially granting a defense request to throw out the case in light of the 2024 Supreme Court decision in Snyder v US, which found a federal bribery law doesn’t criminalize rewards to public officials after an action is taken.
