Bozzuto Must Defend D.C. Resident’s Income Bias Class Action

Bozzuto Management Corp. failed to strike down claims that it discriminates against potential residents with housing vouchers in Washington D.C. by subjecting them to “more burdensome application procedures.”

Plaintiff Jane Doe sufficiently alleges that the real estate giant violated the District of Columbia’s Human Rights Act by denying her application based on her income and credit score, in addition to requiring her to apply in person. But her claims that Bozzuto engaged in deceptive trade practices were dismissed, Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the US District Court for the District of Columbia ruled on Monday.
