Bow Tie Cinemas Beats Consumer Lawsuit Over Meta Info Sharing

Bow Tie Cinemas LLC defeated a proposed class action alleging it disclosed the movie-viewing histories of members of its loyalty program to Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent.

The lead plaintiff failed to allege that Bow Tie disclosed his personally identifiable information as defined under the Video Privacy Protection Act, Judge Vernon S. Broderick of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Tuesday.

Broderick granted Bow Tie’s motion to dismiss after denying its motion to compel arbitration.
