Bottega Veneta Inc. is allegedly using QR codes associated with its website that infringe four registered patents that belong to Symbology Innovations LLC, a new lawsuit said.
Leigh M. Rothschild, chairman of the Rothschild Family Foundation, invented the Symbology technology, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
The patents “teach a system and method for enabling a portable electronic device to retrieve information about an object when the object’s symbology,” such as a bar code “is detected,” the complaint said.
