Boeing Sued by Investor in Wake of Alaska Airlines Incident

Boeing Co.‘s outsourcing of airplane components increased the risk of manufacturing flaws despite its public statements that it was “laser-focused” on safety, an investor alleges in a suit filed late Tuesday.

In the weeks since Jan. 5, when a 737 MAX 9 door panel blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight, safety revelations have caused Boeing’s stock price to fall 19%, Rhode Island’s public employee retirement fund says on behalf of a proposed class of investors.
