Boeing Settles Case in Ethiopian Air 737 Max Litigation (1)

Boeing Co. halted a trial set to begin Tuesday by settling another case with the families of those killed in a 2019 Ethiopian Airlines jet crash, a Boeing lawyer said Tuesday.

Winston & Strawn LLP’s Dan Webb told US District Judge Jorge Alonso the number of cases has decreased from litigation involving all 157 passengers on the doomed jet down to 68.

On Monday he discussed with plaintiffs’ lawyer, Robert Clifford of Clifford Law Offices, the drafting of a “mediation proposal” that could resolve the remaining cases, a process that would involve grouping defendants into several trials, he said. The ...
