BNY Mellon Must Face Copyright Infringement Claim Over Software

The Bank of New York Mellon Corp. will face claims of copyright infringement from iPurusa, a New Jersey software design company, for allegedly using and installing copies of its automation tools without permission.

Judge John Michael Vazquez of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey ruled Tuesday that he can’t determine at this stage whether iPurusa authorized BNY Mellon’s use of its software during the period when the plaintiff alleges it revoked permissions.
