Blue Bell Creameries Inc. found potential listeria contamination in ice cream products in 2011, but its then-CEO shut down further testing and distributed the items for sale, an executive testified Thursday.
Andy Kollman began testing finished products for pathogens after the US Army, an important Blue Bell customer, complained about elevated levels of coliform bacteria in samples collected at the company’s plants. Then-CEO Paul Kruse had not wanted the testing to continue, Kollman said on the witness stand in Delaware Chancery Court.
