A Georgia school district must face an ex-principal’s claims he was fired because of his race and for complaining about the backlash against him, including a lynching threat, for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
Leamon Madison’s lawsuit states viable claims under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the US District Court for the Middle District of Georgia said Monday. Colquitt County School District was wrong in asserting those claims were untimely because Madison didn’t cite alleged discrimination that occurred within 300 days before he filed a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the court said.
