Judge Kimberly Cocroft, a state court judge in Columbus, Ohio is suing 14 other judges in her courthouse for civil rights violations, alleging they discriminated against her based on her race and gender after she became administrative judge in 2022.
The 145-page complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, goes into painstaking detail. Cocroft, who is Black, alleges mistreatment to her Black staff members and says she was wrongly accused in public for a problem in the court’s filing system that mistakenly rejected submissions from the public defender’s office.
