Black Long Island Power Employee Advances Bias, Harassment Suit

Long Island Electric Utility Servco LLC must face several claims by a Black Jamaican employee allegedly subjected to racial stereotyping and abuse, including workplace nooses, and unequal job conditions, a federal judge ruled.

The decision Monday by the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York added to the growing body of case law delineating what counts as an adverse job action under the clarified test set by the US Supreme Court in Muldrow v. City of St. Louis.
