A Black former Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP attorney withdrew his appeal in a lawsuit alleging the firm and some of its partners discriminated and retaliated against him.
Kaloma Cardwell appealed after losing several of his claims prior to trial and following a Jan. 29 jury verdict in favor of Davis Polk and two of its lawyers on allegations that they fired Cardwell as payback for complaining about race bias. Cardwell sued in 2019, saying he was denied job assignments and that the firm later terminated him based on bogus performance justifications.
