Black Comcast Ex-Employee Will Arbitrate Race, Age Bias Claims

A former Comcast Corp. part-time sales representative has agreed to arbitrate his age- and race-bias claims against the cable giant.

Jonathan W. Smith Jr., who is an African American male over the age of 40, claimed the company retaliated against him after he complained about a store manager’s discrimination. Smith voluntarily dismissed his claims against Comcast without prejudice, according to a notice of dismissal filed with the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana last Friday. He is seeking reinstatement or front pay, compensatory and punitive damages, among other requested relief, according to his Oct. 18 complaint.
