Byte Federal Inc. failed to follow industry standards and federal guidelines to protect consumers’ data from cybercriminals, two proposed class actions allege.
The cryptocurrency company’s failure to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures caused personally identifiable information of 58,000 consumers to be exposed in a November data breach, the complaints filed Monday in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida say. The suits seek to certify a class of all US residents whose personal information was exposed in the data breach.
