A digital asset holder’s lawsuit against a Binance.US-affiliated cryptocurrency website raises important questions about threshold requirements to sue under several statutes, Binance.US and the website operator said in a petition for US Supreme Court review.

Federal appeals courts are split on how to read provisions in the Commodity Exchange Act and other laws for the purpose of determining whether personal jurisdiction exists over a defendant, according to Binance.US, which is formally known as BAM Trading Services Inc., and the US-based website operator CoinMarketCap OpCo LLC.
