A group of Republican-led states on Tuesday asked a federal court to block a Biden administration plan to cancel billions in student debt that the states say is imminent.
The suit marks the latest legal challenge to President Joe Biden’s campaign promise to pare down student debt burdens, after a series of court setbacks for the president.
The US Supreme Court on Aug. 28 declined to reinstate President Joe Biden’s earlier push to reduce student-loan bills for millions after the Eighth Circuit temporarily enjoined the so-called “SAVE” plan.
