Biden Loses Bid to Revive Trans Rights Rule in Four States

An Education Department rule aimed at protecting gay and transgender students will remain temporarily blocked in Alaska, Kansas, Utah, and Wyoming under a federal court order issued Friday.

The US District Court for the District of Kansas denied the Education Department’s request for the court to lift its preliminary injunction on the Title IX rule as the Biden administration appeals the injunction to the Tenth Circuit.

The rule expands existing Title IX protections against sex discrimination and harassment to include sexual orientation and gender identity. The Kansas district court’s injunction is in place statewide in the four states. The injunction ...
