Bentley University Defeats Program Coordinator’s Job Bias Appeal

A Bentley University employee failed to revive retaliation claims based on her gender, race, and national origin, with the First Circuit clarifying its test for when the alleged reprisal takes the form of harassment.

The university was properly granted summary judgment on the former executive program coordinator retaliation claims under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, because she had no evidence her supervisors knew when they escalated their harassment of her that she had complained to human resources about discrimination, the court said.
