BellRing Brands Inc. and its Premier Nutrition Co. unit deceptively tout protein shakes and powders as healthful even though they contain excessive levels of lead, consumers allege in a new proposed class action.
Californians Patricia Krystofiak and Luis Carreno, and New Yorker Jonathan Zimmerman, say they relied on the companies’ marketing in buying Premier Protein-brand ready-to-drink shakes and plant-based protein powders. Their suit was filed on Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
