Battery Maker Fails to Ax DOL’s $22 Million Back Wages Jury Win

East Penn Manufacturing Co. Inc. is stuck with a jury verdict awarding the US Labor Department more than $22 million in back wages, a federal judge said, rejecting the company’s bid to “reanimate” the dispute over liability.

The battery maker, which already shut down the agency’s attempt to add another $22 million in liquidated damages, said that the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania should either set aside the jury’s verdict and side with the company or grant it a new trial.
