Bansk Group LLC alleges SiteTools Inc is cybersquatting on the bansk.com domain despite having no association with the financial investment services company.
Bansk sells investment services online through Banskgroup.com and has federally registered Bansk as a trademark. It alleged in a Wednesday complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, that SiteTools uses bansk.com to redirect to refinancemortgage.com, operated by SiteTools.
Bansk said it offered $10,000 for bansk.com, “a price much greater than the appraised value of the” domain name, but SiteTools never responded to the offer, according to the complaint.
