Bandai Namco Customer Drops Suit Over Sharing of Gamers’ Data

A consumer dropped his proposed class action alleging video-game maker Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. disclosed his personal information to Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Plaintiff Samuel J. Garcia filed a stipulation of dismissal Monday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, around seven months after Judge David O. Carter granted the company’s motion to dismiss. Carter found that Garcia didn’t show the game maker met the statutory definition of a “video tape service provider.”
